Our Owner

Rich McFillin’s journey to ownership of Plunkett McFillin Funeral Home is rooted in family, faith, and a deep respect for tradition — values that mirror the foundation of the firm itself.

Growing up in a large family in Northeast Philadelphia, Rich learned early the importance of compassion, responsibility, and caring for others — qualities that would later define his professional calling.

Rich’s introduction to funeral service began during his college years, when he started working in a crematory. What began as a job quickly became a vocation. He was drawn to the meaningful role funeral service plays in helping families navigate life’s most difficult moments with dignity and support.

He attended La Salle University before pursuing his Mortuary Science degree at Mercer County Community College, formally dedicating himself to the profession. Over the years, Rich developed a deep appreciation not just for the technical aspects of funeral service, but for its sacred trust — the responsibility to guide families with empathy, clarity, and respect.

In 2020, Rich expanded his service to families by purchasing MJ Lavish Limos, ensuring that transportation — an often-overlooked part of memorial services — would be handled with the same professionalism and care he believes every detail deserves.

In 2026, Rich was honored to acquire Plunkett Funeral Home, one of Montgomery and Bucks County’s most respected funeral institutions. For Rich, this was more than a business transition — it was the continuation of a legacy built on service, faith, and family values. As part of this transition, the funeral home is being renamed Plunkett McFillin Funeral Home, combining the deep community roots of the Plunkett name with Rich’s own commitment to carrying that legacy forward.

Today, as owner, Rich remains committed to preserving the heritage and reputation established in 1967 while thoughtfully guiding the firm into its next chapter. He considers it a privilege to serve the families of Hatboro, Horsham, Warminster, Warrington, and the surrounding communities.

Our History

1967

Louis Swift Plunkett and his wife Theresa moved the funeral home to its current location in Hatboro, establishing a presence in the heart of the community.

1993

Jeff Plunkett, great-grandson of the founder and a graduate of Archbishop Wood High School, Ursinus College, and Northampton School of Mortuary Science, became a licensed funeral director.

1995

Jeff Plunkett became owner, continuing the family tradition of service to Montgomery and Bucks County families. Under his leadership, the funeral home earned a reputation as one of the area’s most trusted and community-minded institutions. Jeff also served as President of the Philadelphia Funeral Directors Association for ten years.

2026

Rich McFillin acquires the funeral home from the Plunkett family, ensuring its continued service to the Hatboro community. The funeral home is renamed Plunkett McFillin Funeral Home in honor of both the long-standing legacy and the new chapter ahead.

Formerly known as Louis Swift Plunkett Funeral Home, we are now Plunkett McFillin Funeral Home — same trusted service, same commitment to Hatboro and Montgomery County. Plunkett McFillin Funeral Home has been serving families from our location on North York Road since 1967, when Lou Plunkett and his wife Theresa chose Hatboro as the place to build something lasting. What began as a modest family funeral home has, over more than five decades, grown into a cornerstone institution for the families of Montgomery and Bucks County.

Our facility offers comfortable gathering spaces to accommodate families of all sizes, private consultation rooms, a casket and urn selection room, and on-site parking. We are fully handicap accessible.

The communities we are honored to serve reflect the rich character of this region — Irish and Italian Catholic families who have called Hatboro and Horsham home for generations, the military families of Willow Grove, the growing communities of Warminster, Warrington, and Southampton, and the many families of faith across the Route 611 corridor.
